1. How do I get a continuance?: If you need a continuance for your court date, the Court allows one extension per case. You must sign for the new court date at the Court Services window, IN PERSON, at least 24 hours prior to the court date on your citation.

2. Can I pay my fine with a check?: No. You may use cash or money order if you pay at City Hall, and you may use debit or credit cards for online payments. Municipal Court payment website

3. If the officer did not write "Must Appear" on my citation, do I still have to come to court?: It depends on the violation with which you were charged. Please call Court Services at (770) 943-3087 ext. 2012 or 2003 to verify your court appearance requirement.

4. How do I get someone out of jail?: People who are arrested by the Hiram Police Department are held at the Paulding County Detention Center. Release procedures include posting a cash bond or using a bonding company. The jail booking clerk can assist you with this information. Contact the clerk at (770) 443-3030.

5. Who is my probation officer, where are they located and how do I get in touch with them?: If you were placed on probation, you will contact Supervision Services, Inc. Their phone number is 678-383-3121. All questions concerning probation, such as, appointments, violation of probation or warrants should be directed to their office, not Court Services. www.supervisionservicesinc.com

2. How do I file a Police Report?: You can either call the non-emergency dispatch number (770)445-2117 or come into the Hiram Police Department located at 217 Main Street Hiram,Georgia 30141 (770)943-3087

How do I request a Police Report that is more than 5 years old?: Submit a completed open records request form to the Support Services Division of the Hiram Police Department located at 217 Main Street Hiram,Georgia 30141 (770)943-3087. 1. Where do I send my application?: Applications are available online. Submit completed applications in person, during business hours (Mon - Fri / 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM) by making an appointment with Lt. 3. What hours do police officers work?: Officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division will work 12 hour shifts with rotating off days. Officers are off Wednesday and Thursday one week, and Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday the following week. While this schedule tends to reflect a normal pay cycle, employees understand and agree that the nature of police work may require changes in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the agency. Officers are required to work 2184 hours annually if assigned to UPD. Officers assigned to other assignments may be required to work 2080 hours annually.

4. Does the Hiram Police Department have take-home vehicles?: Yes. Once an Officer is released from the field training program, they are assigned a vehicle. Officers must live within a 30 mile radius of the agency in order to be eligible for a take-home vehicle.

5. If I fail to meet the minimum fitness requirements will I be allowed an opportunity to re-test?: No. Failing to meet the minimum fitness requirements will disqualify a candidate from the process. Candidates may re-test once a new hiring cycle begins.

6. How long does the process take?: The hiring process can take up to 2 months to complete. You will be contacted regarding your status in the process. Do not contact the agency for an update.
