1. Where do I send my application?

3. What hours do police officers work?

Officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division will work 12 hour shifts with rotating off days. Officers are off Wednesday and Thursday one week, and Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday the following week. While this schedule tends to reflect a normal pay cycle, employees understand and agree that the nature of police work may require changes in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the agency. Officers are required to work 2184 hours annually if assigned to UPD. Officers assigned to other assignments may be required to work 2080 hours annually.

4. Does the Hiram Police Department have take-home vehicles?

Yes. Once an Officer is released from the field training program, they are assigned a vehicle. Officers must live within a 30 mile radius of the agency in order to be eligible for a take-home vehicle.

5. If I fail to meet the minimum fitness requirements will I be allowed an opportunity to re-test?

No. Failing to meet the minimum fitness requirements will disqualify a candidate from the process. Candidates may re-test once a new hiring cycle begins.

6. How long does the process take?

The hiring process can take up to 2 months to complete. You will be contacted regarding your status in the process. Do not contact the agency for an update.
