What hours do police officers work?
Officers assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division will work 12 hour shifts with rotating off days. Officers are off Wednesday and Thursday one week, and Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday the following week. While this schedule tends to reflect a normal pay cycle, employees understand and agree that the nature of police work may require changes in scheduling to accommodate the needs of the agency. Officers are required to work 2184 hours annually if assigned to UPD. Officers assigned to other assignments may be required to work 2080 hours annually.
