Support Services 

The Support Services side of the Police Department provides police support, records management and several other services including Municipal Court Support, ticket payments, fingerprinting services, background checks, report copies, property retrieval, alcohol pouring permits for employees, pawnshop employee permits, Pawnshop & Precious Metal inventory tickets. 



Communications/GCIC

Communications / GCIC Division of the Police Department provides police support.

Background Checks/Fingerprinting

Background or criminal history checks are available to the general public. An application / consent form must be completed and submitted with a state-issued picture ID. The fee for a background check is $20 payable in cash or money order.


 
Alcohol Server ID

The application process and issuance of permits for servers required to obtain a pouring permit is handled by the Hiram Police Department. Applicants should review the requirements set forth in the Alcohol Ordinance with their prospective employer.

The 5 basic requirements are the completion of section one of the Alcohol Server ID Application, the notarized authorization for the release of personal information, a copy of the applicant's driver's license, a $25 cash/money order/debit card non-refundable application fee, and the completion of an alcohol awareness class (with a copy of a certificate of completion).

Pawnshop Employee Permits

The application process and issuance of permits for employees of pawn shops is handled by the Hiram Police Department.  Applicants should review the requirements set forth in the Pawn Shop Ordinance with their prospective employer.


Report Copies

Copies of reports shall be made available to the public approximately 5-7 business days after the date the incident occurred. For reports under investigation, the report will be ready when the investigation is complete. The cost for a report copy is $5 payable in cash or money order.

Property Retrieval


Retrieval of personal property from the Department shall be done within 30 days unless the property is being held as part of an investigation. If it is part of an investigation, it will not be released until the investigation has been completed.

All persons wishing to retrieve a firearm shall make an appointment with the Investigation Division of the Police Department. All property must be picked up by the owner unless otherwise authorized by a notarized property release form specifying the name of the person retrieving the property.
