About the Program


The Explorer Program gives you an excellent opportunity to learn more about the law enforcement profession. Explorer Post 1891 meets weekly on Thursday nights, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Hiram Police Department located at 217 Main St., Hiram, GA 30141.

As a member of the Hiram Police Explorer Program you will receive training in:
  • Firearms
  • Narcotics identification
  • Crime Scene Investigation
  • Criminal and Traffic Law
  • Leadership Training
  • Physical Fitness training
  • First Aid
  • Criminal Investigations
  • Self-defense tactics
  • Patrol Techniques
  • Various other aspects of the Law Enforcement Profession

Membership


To become a Police Explorer, you must complete and submit an explorer application to the Police Department along with meeting the following criteria:
  • Be age 14-21 and out of the eighth grade
  • Maintain a 2.0 GPA in all school work
  • Have no criminal record or background
  • Have and maintain a good moral character
  • Pass a background investigation
  • Demonstrate a willingness to participate in Explorer activities
  • Not affiliated with another Police Explorer post
